I am passionate about supporting people to work through their difficulties in a person-centred way, drawing on different therapeutic models that best complement an individual’s own skills to help reach their goals. I have experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, and a wide range of emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, phobias, difficulties managing emotions, difficulties associated with significant life changes or with traumatic experiences.
Primarily, I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in my therapeutic work. I also draw on aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) where useful in helping to understand a person’s experiences, conceptualise their difficulties, and explore how to move forward towards their goals. Regardless of the type of therapy, for me the therapeutic relationship is key to helping us work through the difficulties you are experiencing. An effective therapeutic relationship helps us work collaboratively to explore, process, and overcome difficulties in a way that feels safe, containing, and validating.
In addition to my clinical work, I have considerable research experience, with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Dundee in addition to my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
I’m Lindsay-Jo and one of the Directors here at LINKAT Psychology. Having worked in Psychology services in the NHS for over twelve years, I have experience of working with individuals with a wide range of presenting difficulties. Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, my work has focussed mostly on general adult mental health and those adjusting to living with physical health conditions. I am particularly passionate about supporting people with psychological difficulties to access medical and dental services.
I mostly work with two main therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma therapy. My research interests focus on developing trauma informed health services and the assessment of suicide risk in dental services.
What matters to me most is that our time together brings you more in touch with the things that are important to you; whether that be through therapy, supervision or consultancy.
I have worked within the NHS since 2013, specialising in the assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties across the lifespan, with a current focus on children, young people, and their families. I have experience of working with children, teenagers and young adults with neuro-developmental conditions including adapting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for this population. I have extensive experience working with those with anxiety disorders, panic, phobia, depression, PTSD and OCD. I integrate evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I hold a particular interest in OCD, emotion dysregulation, and adapting therapeutic interventions for neurodivergent profiles. My practice focuses on helping clients learn practical skills to manage difficult emotions, reframe unhelpful thinking, and build distress tolerance as well as helping to support their understanding of how the mind works. My work has helped me to develop a greater understanding that helping people and their families to understand their unique profile of strengths and challenges helps to reduce emotional distress, improve mood and build long-term resilience.
I provide an individualised and collaborative approach to help you feel safe and connected. Together we will identify clear goals for therapy, build understanding of emotions, and develop helpful coping strategies to improve well-being and a life worth living.
Specialist Interests: OCD, emotion dysregulation, and neurodivergent-adapted interventions
Therapeutic Approaches: CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Adapted CBT for autistic individuals.

MSc Psychological Therapies in Primary Care
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
I qualified with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2015 and since then I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist within NHS Tayside. I have been working as part of the Linkat team since 2023. During this time I have gained extensive experience helping individuals navigate a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges at every stage of life from childhood through to adulthood.
I can provide assessment and treatment for anxiety, low mood and depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties and challenges within relationships. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of all successful therapy. My priority is to create a safe, warm, and confidential space where you feel truly heard, understood, and comfortable sharing your experiences. Together, we will collaborate to make sense of your current struggles and emotional difficulties. Identify clear goals tailored to what matters most to you. Develop practical skills and coping strategies to build resilience. Empower you to move forward and live a rich, fulfilling life.
I use a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, integrating modalities to support your individual goals. I am skilled in using the following therapies:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – To understand and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – To build distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and mindfulness skills.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – To foster psychological flexibility and mindful acceptance.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) – To quieten your inner critic and develop self-kindness.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) – To improve relationships and resolve interpersonal conflict.
I am passionate about providing inclusive, neurodivergence-affirming care. I adapt and tailor therapeutic approaches to meet the cognitive, sensory, and communication needs of neurodivergent individuals (including Autistic and ADHD profiles), ensuring therapy feels accessible, safe, and validating.
I have worked within NHS psychology services for over 5 years and as a Clinical Psychologist since 2022. I have experience working therapeutically with individuals across the lifespan, but I am specifically interested in working with adults. I have experience working with clients who are struggling with a wide range of emotional difficulties, as well as supporting clients to manage the impact of chronic health conditions.
I use evidence based talking therapies, mainly using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach but incorporate aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) to help develop a person-centred treatment plan. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
The therapeutic relationship is central to any psychological therapy and I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment in which to explore clients’ difficulties and help them develop ways of improving their wellbeing.
I have practiced in Psychology services across NHS Tayside for the past 5 years, and as a Clinical Psychologist since 2022. I have worked with individuals across varied ages and populations, with most of my experience being within adult populations. I provide treatment focusing on skills and coping ‘in the here and now’, as well as exploring longstanding difficulties through exploration of past experiences.
I provide treatment using evidence-based practices, most notably from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as well as incorporating interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Creating and continuing a life worth living is a core message I have applied throughout my training and practice. I aim to create a safe, collaborative space for clients to achieve this through both within and outside of the therapeutic space.
I’ve worked in Psychological Services in the NHS for the last 6 years, delivering evidence-based psychological therapies for a variety of mental health difficulties. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist three years ago, and have been working since then with children, young people, and their families. I have experience of working with people across the lifespan, and enjoy being able to adapt therapeutic approaches to the individual whether that be for different ages, neurodiversity, or different ways of learning.
The main approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and systemic ways of working. I believe that psychological therapy works best when the client feels seen and understood. I value the opportunity to work together to come to a shared understanding, and to collaborate to develop a plan for therapy that’s tailored to the individual.
I’m an active researcher, and have experience of research across qualitative and quantitative methodologies and across multiple disciplines. I believe the combination of clinical and research expertise held by psychological practitioners is extremely valuable in clinical practice.
I have been working as a psychologist in the NHS for ten years, initially with children and young people before moving into adult services. I specialise in working with people with physical health conditions but have experience of supporting people facing many different struggles, including depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship difficulties. I am trained in a range of different therapeutic models, including systemic/narrative therapy, psychodynamic approaches, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), CBT and ACT, which means I can adapt my approach to each person’s needs. What is most important to me is that clients feel a sense of therapeutic connection and rapport in order to explore their own emotional experiences in a safe and supported way. I make a point of seeking feedback from clients at every session so that we can work together to adjust our approach as necessary.
I have been a qualified and registered social worker for over 40 years working primarily in safeguarding within a local authority setting. I work with children and their families in crisis where a risk of neglect, physical emotional or sexual abuse exists.
I support a Signs of Safety/Strengthening Families approach based on collaboration between professionals and service users. I am committed to GIRFEC – getting it right for every child and believe that children’s voices must be heard at every stage.
For the past eight years I have been a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) in England allowing me to extend my safeguarding to specifically protect children from inappropriate behaviours of those in positions of trust.
I am also a safeguarding trainer who has run various levels of multi-agency child protection courses as well as more specialist training around child sexual abuse.
My particular area of expertise is the assessment and management of CSafe – sexual abuse within the family setting. For the last 18 years I have carried out assessments of those who pose a risk of sexual abuse. My main approach for this work is cognitive behavioural with a trauma informed lens.
I am totally committed to the protection of children from abuse and feel this can best be achieved by good multi agency collaboration and communication. I believe that whatever sector you are working in – adult or children, voluntary, private or statutory – children should be safeguarded and we all have a duty in this respect.
