E-mail Support

Sometimes people have a specific question or issue they would like some advice for, and we offer a question-answer written service that provides you with the chance to seek advice or information without the need for individual appointment(s). Sometimes this might be in relation to stress-management strategies, signposting to self-help, information in relation to parenting issues, or one-off queries in relation to professional development or research.

We offer a range of advice services depending on the sort of support you are seeking. All include a comprehensive written response to your query, with varying levels of follow-up contact via email depending on your needs.

What sort of things do you offer advice for?

In short, anything!

From difficulties with sleep and self-confidence, to making important life decisions or approaching a difficult situation at work and everything in between. We’ve included a couple of examples here to give you an idea of the sorts of things people seek advice for.

(Please note that these are demonstrative and not copies of actual contact from clients).

Example One

Hi there,

I’m looking for some advice. I’ve never been a great sleeper but it’s got a lot worse over the last few months. Now it can take me 2-3 hours to fall asleep and I just seem to toss and turn, and can’t get my brain to turn off! I’ve been trying to make sure I get plenty of exercise so I’m physically tired, even doing a little work out before bed to try and get tired but it doesn’t seem to be working. I just want to be able to get a good night’s rest! What would you suggest?

Thank you!

Example Two

Hi,

I’m finding that my self-esteem is pretty low at the moment, and it’s really affecting my relationship with my wife. I either find myself not speaking much because I’m wrapped up in my own head, or I’m a bit snappy because I feel frustrated with myself and then feel even worse about taking it out on her. I don’t want to commit to therapy right now but I’d like some advice on what I can do for self-help.

Thanks.

How much support will I get?

We provide a detailed response to your query, with advice grounded in the evidence-base that relates to your question. We make sure to respond to all aspects of your question, and – wherever applicable – we will link you to online resources you can access or recommend further reading that may help with your issue.

An email with a single, straightforward question like the ones above will receive one detailed response with no follow-up afterwards.

Sometimes, a question is complex or needs some follow-up. If we think your query is more complex or likely to need follow-up we’ll let you know so you can decide how you’d like to proceed. Follow-up would involve one further clarification email to answer any questions you had about our initial response.

For further details on costs, please see our Pricing page.

What do I do if I’d like some advice?

You can get in touch by emailing admin@linkatpsychology.co.uk with you details and query. We’d recommend putting ‘Advice Request’ in the subject header.
